Izzy Whizzy, Let's get Busy!!

Children in Reception have been very busy indeed. Our curriculum is child-initiated which means that we allow children to develop their own ideas and preferences. Alongside this we careful plan for and teach key skills such as phonics, writing, reading, and number. Children play, but the play is supporting their learning and allowing them to naturally travel through each stage in their development.

Below are some pictures of our learning this week. The children have been very busy! Please ask your children to explain the pictures to you. This provides a great opportunity for them to practice recall skills.

Some of the things we have been learning this week include: washing our hands with SOAP and water! We have also learnt about what materials we can use again in the classroom and what needs to be thrown away (Arin was very interested in the concept of recycling). We have also been using Google to find pictures of things that interest us and then printing them. Today the children were very interested in flags...tomorrow it could be anything!

And finally.....please ask your child about the following picture. The children were very excited when they saw these new shelves this morning...
