Weekly Review and Preview


Y1 Weekly Update:
Monday 21st November  - Friday 25th November

English
Y1C completed a writing assessment.  They all did brilliantly!
We will be talking about our favourite books.
Maths
Similarly, we completed maths assessments.
We will start investigating.
Topic
We made finger puppets and started to make large hand puppets.
We will finish our large hand puppets and start to put on shows.
PSHE
We spoke in front of each other with confidence.
We will be singing confidently.
Optional Homework
Make a sock puppet!
Notices and Events
  • The costumes you have provided are brilliant.  Thank you.
  • Please be aware that, as per the school policy, if a child cannot swim, they will need a doctor’s note. No swim = no play: If a child cannot swim, they will not be able to play.  
  • Homework will be given out on Monday and is due in on Friday.

Large Puppets

Towards the end of the week, we have started to make much larger puppets.  We will finish these next week.














Inventing to solve problems

The children were given a range of problems, such as a shark wanting to find a dolphin and a lion wanting to get to a bird up a tree, to solve by inventing.  








Performing with confidence

This week, we have been talking confidently in front of others.

This week's Homework


Maths
Play Hedgehog Hurry.  This requires children to complete number sequences involving consecutive numbers 0-30 where two or three numbers are missing.
English
Read the story sent home and complete a book review.  Please return the book to receive a new one as soon as your child has finished their book.  
Phonics
The Phonics homework is based on the week’s spellings.
Spellings
This week’s spellings are cvc words.

English
We have used similes to describe people and read a story set in India.
We will be completing a writing assessment.
Maths
We looked at the number bonds to ten and how to add to 20.  We also investigated capacity - thank you for bringing in the different sized bottles.
We will be completing a maths assessment.
Topic
We sorted imagined things from real things.
We will be making lots of different puppets and using our imagination to put on mini shows.
PSHE
We talked about the production and how to behave.
We will talk about confidence.
Optional Homework
Write a story/create a comic strip where you swap with your mum or dad.  What would you do?
