Weekly review and preview

Y1 Weekly Update: Monday 31st October  - Friday 4th November

 

	This Week	Next Week
English	We have been spelling cvc words and including these within sentences.	We will start a unit on Discussion Texts.
Maths	We have worked out odd and even numbers, considered different number bonds and ordered the days of the week.	We will be comparing weights, investigating capacity (see below) and investigating time.
Topic	We used our imaginations to scare people with scary stories.	We will continue ‘Finding Out’, using our imaginations to amuse and entertain.  We will also ‘Sort Out’ imagined and real things.
PSHE	We discussed honesty.	We will look into making good decisions.
Optional homework	Draw a flower and label the parts.
Notices and Events	When looking at capacity, we will need lots of plastic jars and bottles of different sizes.  If you have any at home, please send them in so we can use them.  Extra dojos are available! Please be aware that, as per the school policy, if a child cannot swim, they will need a doctor’s note. No swim = no play: If a child cannot swim, they will not be able to play.   Homework will be given out on Monday and is due in on Friday.  I update the Abacus Maths games every week.  This is the only Maths homework given so please make sure your child does play the games.   Mr Renie’s weekly newsletter is posted on  http://ascoteypynews.blogspot.com/ .
