Class and Outdoor Activities This Week.

Once again the children have been busy developing their learning preferences and ideas. RJ have also been taking risks and some children have enjoyed trying to climb trees in the playground...under supervision, of course!

Please ask you children about the following pictures. It's so important that they are given opportunities to talk about what they have been doing at school.

Uss enjoyed making shakers using rice and a small plastic tub. He quickly realised that the sound got louder when he removed more rice, and quieter when it was full.

Grandae wrote down a rhyming string - cat, hat, mat, sat, pat!

Alex made a label for the Junk Area by copying letters from another label.

Neasha spent a loooooonnnnnng time playing with he rainbow rice.

Puma was busy cutting small pieces of paper and making little teeny-weeny labels.

Meleah was making juices...with added chocolate!

Summer enjoyed playing with soapy water.

Arin makes a model while we discuss which hand he prefers to use. He said he liked to use his right hand as it is the strongest.

Panboon enjoyed the challenge of climbing the tree.

Uss couldn't wait to try....

And Meleah loved climbing and looking around!

It's amazing what you can do with a box!

Puma and Summer push and pull the box around!

Uss and myself make a mirror image pattern.
Pan boon makes a picture for me and writes my names by making the letter sounds.

This week's Home Learning 29.9.15

For this week's home learning I would like children to make labels for items or areas in your home.

We have been making lots of labels at school to show where to tidy things away and the children have really enjoyed this real-life writing experience.

So, at home please ask your children to write a label for different items. You could ask them to label their toys boxes, or furniture, or even their clothing!

Here are some pictures to show the kinds of labels you could make.

Grande makes a label for the cones in the playground.

We stuck the labels to the tree to show where we need to tidy up the cones.

Puma made a label for the watering cans.

Alex made a label for the Junk Area in the classroom.

As you can see, each child has their own way of writing. Please encourage children to write according to what comes naturally to them.
Please take photos and send to me so I can put them on this Blog page. Or you could send the labels to school so we can discuss them together.

Good Luck!

House Colours Day 2015!

Friday saw the celebration of House Colours Day at ASCOT. The kids were so excited and really got into the team spirit. We are so proud of the great sportsmanship that they all showed. Here are a selection of snaps from our wonderful day!

This week's home learning task - 22.9.15

For this week's home learning task I would like children to make phonics bags for the letter sounds s (for snake), a (for apple) and t (for tortoise).
Give your child 3 bags, ask them to write the letter on the front and then help them find items starting with each letter to go inside the bags. You can send the bags to school or you can send me some photos to put on the Blog.
Also you can practice writing each letter, but don't worry if your child finds it hard...it's early days yet!
Don't forget to start each letter at the top, like this....

Here are some pictures of the same activity that we did at school for the letter sounds 's'.

Arin finds a stick and a straw.
 Maleah finds string.
Puma finds sun glasses.

Pan boon makes Fab phonics bags at home!

Home reading in Reception.

This week, Reception will start bringing home-reading books home on a Friday. We have included a letter to help get you started and some key words to make into flash cards.
Please let us know if you have any questions or need any advice. We are always happy to help!

You can visit www.starfall.com for some reading activities, including phonics games.

Happy reading!

Class activities this week.

Here are a selection of class activities from the last 5 days at school. The children continue to explore and develop their own ideas. There are very high levels of creativity in the class and the children are incredibly independent, though they all need lots of reminders to tidy up!!
Please ask you children about each picture as this will help with recall and memory.

On Friday we spray painted using spray bottles. You can try this at home. It's great for small muscle development.

Trying out the new cushions in the library! So comfy!
