Home learning - 10.5.16

As part of our Jungle topic we will be looking at the importance and uses of water. This is particularly relevant at the moment as the weather is so hot!
For home learning this week I would like children to make a list of when they use water at home. They could include pictures to go with each item on their list. Alongside this please talk with your children about the importance of water and why it is important that we don't waste it.

On the subject of water, lets hope that the rain comes soon...??!!

Rumble in the Jungle

For our next topic we will be focussing on the book, Rumble in the Jungle. This is a collection of poems about different jungle animals.

Home learning - 3.5.16

Now that we have started a new topic on Plants and Animals, the children could start their own planting projects.
The best seeds for quick growth are grass seeds (cat grass grows super fast) and herbs (you can eat these too).
Please take photos of your child planting and caring for their seeds and I can share them on the Blog.

Alternatively you could ask your child to take care of some of the plants in your garden. Children love the responsibility of caring for plants and watching them grow.

Walking Through the Jungle!

Our new topic for term 3 is Animals and Plants. Here are some stories that we will look at throughout term 3 and some songs too.

Currently we are reading Walking Through the Jungle. This is a story and song rolled into one!

Rain, is a wonderful story about the African water cycle.

We will also look at Jack and the Beanstalk again. This is one of my favourite traditional tales.

Here is a song about the life cycle of a seed.

Jungle Jelly!

Today made Jiggly Jungle Jelly! We added worms and snakes for extra flavour! We will eat out jelly tomorrow....so long as the snakes haven't eaten it first!
