Weekly Review and Preview

Y1 Weekly Update:
Monday 15th May - Friday 19th May

This Week

Next week

English
We started looking explanatory texts.  We designed machines and began to explain how they work.
We will use the features of explanations to write about how our machines work.
Maths
We have identified halves and quarters in shapes and found different amounts in Thai Baht.
We will order two digit numbers.
Topic
We finished our topic about plants sustaining life on Earth and playing a role in our lives by making posters explaining why plants are important.

We will begin our new topic called ‘People play different roles in the community to which they belong.’  If any parents would like to come in and talk about their jobs for ten minutes from Monday 29th May - Friday 5th June, please let me know!  This will be when we are in our ‘finding out’ phase and it would be super to have some parents speak to the class for ten minutes about what they do everyday in their jobs.   Please email me if you would like to do this.
PSHE
We made cards for other people to tell them why we like them.
We will reflect on what we do well in reading, writing and maths, and identify what we need to work on.  We will consider how we would rate our behaviour and effort in lessons.
Optional Homework
Complete some Science experiments at home.  This website has some good suggestions: http://www.iflscience.com/chemistry/unfinished-20-fun-science-experiments-you-can-do-home/
Take photos to show me what you have done!
